Trunk Show Planning

We're making plans for our first bridal show coming up in February. We have set up trunk shows in the past in our individual businesses, and we all three like the same look and feel for a space, so that made it very easy for us to come up with a look for our Pearls and a Promise space. Obviously, a space with jewelry and wedding stationery will look considerably different from this space at Betty's Cottage, but this is the feel that we like. Isn't this a wonderful space?
Betty's Cottage
And I have to be on the lookout for a vintage wedding cake topper!  How perfect would this be in a bridal booth that sells a lot of wedding jewelry made with pearls!?!?  Must have!!

Chippy! Shabby!
My favorite part of doing trunk shows is the planning of the space.  It puts me into my happy place...

Yes, our business is still in it's infancy to be sure.  However, we are committed to move forward and have made plans and set goals for the next few months. During a wonderful business planning meeting a few weeks ago...sitting with our coffee at Le Madeleine...our business motto was born amidst much laughter and giggling.  "What is your motto?" you may be asking yourself.  Well, in an effort to encourage each other to move out of our respective comfort zones, we adopted the motto "Be bold, be strong!"

So keep a close eye on Pearls and a Promise.  We are moving forward.  Hello world...Here we come!!!

Picture Taking Musings

Our blog and new business adventure is still in its infancy, and as we begin to post some of the custom products we'll offer, I stay in a quandry about taking good pictures.

Is it OK to just add a disclaimer "I make journals - but I'm not a photographer"?  Yikes!  Such another world!  Why is it that I can take four pics in a row, not move a muscle, not change the camera setting, but every picture is a different hue?  What causes that?  It makes me crazy.

None of this requires and answer - just my musings -

Pressing on,
Jayne

Journals and to-do notebooks

Pearls and a Promise, among other stationery items, will offer journals/to-do books/daytimers, etc. All will be handcrafted covers, repurposed book, three-ring binders and more. Listed here is one of our first made for the bride to be.

The book is a composition book with a lovely cover decorated to call attention to the bride and her "notes."  As this is a composition book, it can be used from the beginning of the wedding plans as a list keeper, dates, notes of what needs to be done - the possibilities are endless.

"Pearls and a Promise"

Well, where to begin? This blog and this idea is less than twenty-four hours old, so my head is a fuzzy bunch of swirling ideas!

July 22, 2012, at around 3:00 pm, my two daughters and I were winding up a three day "scrapbooking, jewelry making, journaling, card making retreat" at my home.  We hadn't done this kind of weekend for three years and their families graciously set them free of all home responsibilities and they loaded up and headed to "mom's place."

We had a perfect three days of creating, eating (that's a story in itself - more later on the food), laughing {uncontrollably at times), and late in the day Sunday, the idea of "Pearls and a Promise" was born! How did it happen? One thought floated by Shellie, another idea by Shannon, and we were off and running! In two hours we had a name, and had set up a website (the website is an address only for now), Etsy store, FB, Pinterest, Twitter and blog.

Now what? Don't have a clue just how it's going to unfold!

What is "Pearls and a Promise" going to offerWe will offer what we are already doing but will just be focusing some of our creative juices toward "custom jewelry for weddings" ~ for the bride and bridesmaids to wear in the wedding and/or simply unique gifts for bridesmaids, family, friends of the bride, flower girls, etc. We'll also offer personalized/custom wedding stationery - which will be described later.

Just needed to post this little blurb to be sure I didn't dream the whole thing!  More soon ~ from all of us!

Blessings!
the mom, Jayne
